Media Release: Emerging Trends in Digital Health The Focus of 6th Annual Apps For Health Event at Mohawk College

HAMILTON, ONTARIO – Patient engagement, virtual care, big data and global mHealth are on the agenda at one of Ontario’s premier digital health conferences this Thursday at Mohawk College.

Mohawk’s 6th annual Apps for Health event on April 28 will bring together 400 healthcare, technology and education professionals.

Joining 30 panelists and 24 exhibitors are five keynote speakers and leaders in digital health solutions: eHealth Ontario CEO Cynthia Morton; Hamilton Health Sciences Executive Vice President of Strategy and Innovation Renato Discenza; Telus Health Vice President David Thomas; Regenstrief Director Paul Biondich; Ontario Telemedicine Network CEO Ed Brown; and COACH - Canada's Health Informatics Association CEO Mark Casselman.

Apps for Health is sponsored by Hamilton Economic Development, Novari Health, Cystic Fibrosis Canada, Canadian Healthcare Technology and COACH.

In addition to hosting the annual Apps for Health event, Mohawk works with dozens of regional, national and international partners from the private, public and non-profit sectors on applied research projects at the college’s mHealth & eHealth Development and Innovation Centre (MEDIC). Recognized internationally, students and faculty at MEDIC support teaming, tooling, testing and training in digital health. Mohawk currently ranks 17th among all colleges in Canada for applied research activity and aims to be among the top 10 colleges by 2021.
