Samille Elliston (left) and Brian Kountourogiannis were two of 10 students from Mohawk's Graphic Design Creative/Studio program whose posters were chosen to commemorate the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day at Mohawk College on Tuesday, March 8, 2011. Professor Leif Peng had the students do the posters as part of a class assignment. The posters are part of the college-wide activities planned for tomorrow to celebrate the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day. The students' posters will be on display throughout the Fennell campus on Tuesday.

The College will host a number of activities related to International Women's Day including the following:

Fennell:

• Community workshop aimed at encouraging women to pursue careers in engineering and technology in i131.


• Performances by three female vocalists Fennell Campus in the Collaboratory, cafeteria and out the McIntyre Theatre throughout the day.


• Women from History at Fennell Campus: Actors dressed as historically significant women will be in the C Wing Atrium and cafeteria from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

IAHS:

• Former Mohawk nursing student Marcella Veenman-Mulder will be at the Mohawk-McMaster Institute for Applied Health Sciences from noon to 1 p.m. to talk about her humanitarian work in Honduras.

STARRT:

• Seminar on women in the trades for 30 female high school students from noon to 1 p.m.

In addition to the on-campus activities listed above several staff and students from Mohawk's School of Continuing Education will be at Martha House (a home for women and children who are victims of abuse), giving makeovers, serving lunch and offering resume advice.
