HAMILTON (April 8, 2013) – Students, staff and visitors at Mohawk College's Fennell Campus have gained a new panoramic view of downtown Hamilton.

An anonymous donor has given the college View of Hamilton, 2012, a 1.6 metre X 3.6 metre acrylics on hardboard painting by local artist E. Robert Ross. The painting, on permanent display in the hallway leading to the Mohawk Learning Exchange, depicts a skyline view of the city from the edge of Scenic Drive on Hamilton Mountain.

“The generosity of an anonymous donor and the creative talent of E. Robert Ross have brought another inspirational work of art to our campus,” says Mohawk President Rob MacIsaac. “Our college is proud to showcase and celebrate the great work of outstanding local artists.”

Mohawk and the Wallace Conservation Committee last July reinstalled Educational Experiment, a steel sculpture by the late George Wallace. The two-storey sculpture is on display in the iWing at the Fennell Campus together with another life-size Wallace sculpture.

A full-time landscape artist since 1975 and a Hamilton resident, E. Robert Ross is currently a member of the Council of Governors of the Art Gallery of Hamilton and the Board of Directors of the Dundas Valley School of Art.

E. Robert Ross will take part in the official unveiling of View of Hamilton, 2012 on Wednesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in the H-Wing hallway at the Fennell Campus.

E Robert Ross,George Wallace,Hamilton 2012,Mohawk art collection,Mohawk College,Uncategorized
