Mohawk College Broadcasting TV student Ida Adamowicz is this year's recipient of the Michael Monty Scholarship Award from the Ontario Association of Broadcasters.

The award recognizes students with strong academic standing and who show a commitment to making a difference by getting involved in their local and college communities. Mohawk's Broadcasting Television department nominated Ida for her dedication to her program and for her volunteer work with student groups and with organizations in her hometown of Brantford, Ontario. Ida is currently on a field placement with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).

"I was so excited to hear that I was nominated by my peers, mentors, school, faculty and the community," said Ida, after receiving the award at the Ontario Association of Broadcasters Career Day event in Toronto on Monday. "The most surprising thing was to hear that choosing me was an obvious choice for the panel. I feel like all my hard work has paid off and it's really nice to receive recognition from the selection committee."

Since 2010, three Mohawk Broadcast Television students has been awarded this prestigious honour.
