The Mohawk Applied Research Centre (MARC) has been awarded the Infoway Standards Collaborative 2010 Team Peer Award for its outstanding achievements in the advancement of health information standards in Canada. MARC worked with Canada Health Infoway to build and test the prototype for a nation-wide health records database.

MARC's work on the project allowed Canada Health Infoway to see the entire system operational for the first time. Eventually the platform will support Canada’s national electronic health records database. The database will improve quality, efficiency and productivity in healthcare, while expanding patient access to the health system and promoting patient safety.

The project is also receiving international attention from countries like South Africa that are also interested in developing a nation-wide healthcare database.

Congratulations to Ted Scott, Dean of Applied Research, and his team at MARC. The award was presented at the Fall 2010 Infoway Partnership Conference in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Canada Health Infoway,Duane Bender,Fall 2010 Infoway Partnership Conference,Infoway Standards Collaborative 2010 Team Peer Award,Justin Fyfe,Mohawk Applied Research Centre,Mohawk College,Uncategorized
