Mohawk College to open North Pole branch plant for 450 Hamilton children in need

HAMILTON (Dec. 1, 2014) -- Four hundred and fifty children in need are on the nice list for Mohawk College’s McKeil School of Business toy drive.

The school is collecting toys for every student at St. Ann Catholic Elementary in Hamilton’s lower city and 100 children at Mountain Kidz Klub.

Last year, the McKeil School of Business collected $13,000 worth of Christmas presents for 450 children. The annual toy drive is organized by Santa’s helper and Advertising program coordinator Wayne Aubert, who launched the toy drive to instil a spirit of giving in Mohawk students.

The community is welcome to join Mohawk students, faculty and staff in supporting the toy drive by dropping off unwrapped gifts to M Wing at Mohawk’s Fennell Campus, across from the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.

Annual toy drive kicks off at Mohawk College

Students, faculty and staff in the McKeil School of Business are collecting toys for children at Mountain Kidz Klub and St. Ann's Catholic Elementary on Sherman Avenue in the lower city. Launched six years ago by Mohawk Advertising program, this year's drive aims to collect presents for 400 children. New and unwrapped toys, stocking stuffers, gift cards and money can be brought to the M wing reception area (offices for McKeil School of Business faculty and staff across from the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre). Mountain Kidz needs your help with 2010 toy drive

Mountain Kidz Klub needs your help. Once again, the faculty and students of Mohawk College's Advertising Program are collecting toys for Mountain Kidz Klub's 2010 toy drive.

Over the past year, Mohawk's Advertising program has supported Mountain Kidz with a Car Wash, a PumpkinFest event, and preparing for a Dinner with Santa event.

Mountain Kidz is a program that offers after-school activities for kids on the Mountain. In recent years the organization has grown to serve all of Hamilton and now offers food and clothing banks and a weekend soup kitchen. They also provide meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas for those in need.

Mountrain Kidz needs 100 toys, $15 maximum value, for kids of all ages. They request that all toys be new and to please not donate plush toys or toy guns and related items. Last year the Advertising program supplied all the needed toys and as a result Mountain Kidz did not have to purchase any toys in 2009.

The Advertising Program will be collecting toys for the month of November. Toys can be dropped off at M wing Reception (students) or Wayne Aubert's office in M wing (faculty) during the month.

Got a larger or more expensive toy to "regift"? Please bring it in. Large toys are raffled off to raise money to buy more toys. Gift cards, Canadian Tire Money or cash donations are also appreciated.
