Fennell Campus

OSAP loan release is in the MSA Student Centre, room G08 (across from the Campus Grill).  Please check your OSAP status on-line at http:///osap.gov.on.ca to see if it has been issued on or before December 22.

If your loan has been issued by the Ministry, you can pick up your loan document in Room G08, MSA Student Centre.  We are now seeing students on a drop-in basis, between 9 a.m.– 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.  You do not have to make an appointment to pick up your loan.  Please bring your Mohawk College student card, your Social Insurance card (SIN) and your government issued photo ID to pick up your loan document.

Satellite Campuses

OSAP loan pick-up for students studying at Brantford, IAHS and STARRT campuses will be at their campus’ Student Services office.  Please check your OSAP status on-line at http:///osap.gov.on.ca to see if it has been issued on or before December 22.

If your loan has been issued, you can pick up your loan document at your campus.

To pick up your OSAP, you must bring:

• Your Social Insurance Card (SIN).


• One piece of government issued photo ID (i.e., driver’s license, health card, BYID, etc.).


• Your Mohawk College student ID card.

Frederic Nickner has been appointed as Registrar at Mohawk College. Fred comes to Mohawk from College Boreal where he served as Academic Manager, Registrar & most recently as Regional Manager in the Hamilton office. Frederic is a Certified Management Accountant and earned his Masters of Business Administration from Laurentian University and his Bachelor degree from the University of Ottawa. Fred has extensive experience with the Strategic Enrolment Management process and has led major process re-engineering efforts to enhance student services. 

Lori Morgan is Mohawk's new Chief Marketing & Recruitment Officer. Lori is a proud Mohawk graduate of Mohawk's Advertising program and is an amazing success story. Lori has worked for the National Post for the past 8.5 years. She has served as Promotion Manager, Director Marketing & Promotions, Director Marketing & Strategic Integration and most recently as Vice-President Marketing. Prior to joining the National Post, Lori served at Town Media, the London Free Press, the Toronto Sun and the Skydome. Lori has extensive experience with new media, advertising & promotions and brand development. 

1. OPSEU Support staff workers at all Ontario Colleges are conducting a work stoppage and have set up picket lines at the Fennell, Brantford (Elgin & Brantford/Laurier) and Stoney Creek campuses. While workers have the right to picket, students and staff have the right to cross the picket lines.


2. Use online services. This will allow you to avoid lines ups. If you are registered avoid services and go to your regularly scheduled classes as listed on your timetable.


3. New students – Academic Orientation is Tuesday as scheduled. Our Student Associations will conduct activities as planned. Shuttles will not be running for Orientation events.


4. Returning students – begin classes as scheduled on Wednesday.


5. Financial Assistance/OSAP – loan documents are being processed centrally at Fennell campus in room G08 in the Student Centre. For any other OSAP concerns we recommend delaying if possible. For urgent matters visit the Fennell Square from 9:30 to 4pm – expect line-ups and delays.


6. Timetables and other college documents – please print documents at home or at a local print shop. Bring college documents with you to help you find your classes and to reference any important information needed to help you get started.


7. Health Sciences & applicable Human Services students requiring Communicable Disease Screening Clearance must go to a local health clinic or family doctor for testing. Campus Health Clinics will be closed – Academic offices will support students with the required paperwork.(see Mohawk Matters for complete details)


8. Do not drive to campus if possible. The HSR has many routes that come to campus and will drop students off on the sidewalks. Students should also consider getting dropped off by family or friends wherever possible.


9. Vehicles will be permitted to enter the campus but will be delayed by the picket lines. Police are ticketing vehicles that charge the picket lines or make left turns. Enter the campus by making right hand turns only, proceed slowly when cleared and use extreme caution.


10. Remain calm. Be patient. Expect delays. Give yourself enough extra time and remember your safety and that of every staff member is our first priority.

Rochelle Reid has been appointed Manager of the Office of the Vice-President Student Services. Rochelle comes to Mohawk from George Brown College where she served as Supervisor, Athletics Member Services & Special Projects. Rochelle is working towards her certification as a Project Manager and has a background in business and marketing. She  led several major projects for George Brown, including a $2.5 million multi-year, multi-campus project to enhance athletic facilities.

 
Mohawk College celebrated the official opening of it's new centre for student services with a surprise performance by Aboriginal dancers, Bollywood dancers, Chinese Dragon dancers and Mo the Hawk.

The Square, Mohawk’s new centre for student services at the Fennell Campus, brings together a team of 120 staff who provide a comprehensive range of services and supports, including financial aid, registration, recruitment, admissions, counseling, New Canadian and International advising, campus employment and accessible learning services.  The centre will serve 7,000 full-time students at the Fennell Campus, Mohawk’s 42,000 continuing education registrants and support student services offered at the college’s other four campuses in Hamilton and Brantford.

The new location consolidates services that were previously offered at 17 locations across the Fennell Campus.  Renovations to transform the former library into the new home for one-stop student services began earlier this year and the $1.35 million project was completed on time, on budget and accident free.

A team of 120 staff will provide a comprehensive range of services and supports, including financial aid, registration, recruitment, admissions, counseling, New Canadian and International advising, campus employment and accessible learning services.  The Square will serve 7,000 full-time students at the Fennell Campus, Mohawk’s 42,000 continuing education registrants and support student services offered at the college’s other four campuses in Hamilton and Brantford.

The 17,000 square foot student services centre is part of the largest campus renewal project in Mohawk’s history and follows the official opening of the Mohawk Learning Exchange and the Harold Cummings Library and Collaboratory in January.  In addition to renovating classrooms, hallways and the cafeteria, more common areas have been created for students to collaborate before, between and after classes.

With the goal of further enhancing the quality of facilities and services, the ongoing Fennell Campus renewal project is earning high marks from students. Based on results from the Ontario government’s latest Key Performance Indicator survey, Mohawk ranks first among all colleges in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area for quality of learning, programs, facilities and services and finished first for overall student and graduate satisfaction.
