2012 HEQCO Keynote Address by Mohawk President Rob MacIsaac

The Darcy Hepner Jazz Orchestra will performs a concert to honour the remarkable life of the late Lincoln Alexander on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Virtue-Fitzgerald Centre for the Arts at Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC). Tickets for the memorial concert are $20 per person and will be available at the door or at the HSC campus store (phone 905-389-1367 x 112).

“Linc was one of our biggest fans. He loved jazz, and was always very supportive of the band. In fact, for our Corktown performances, Linc pretty much had his own table,” said conductor and saxophonist, Darcy Hepner who is also the program coordinator and professor with Mohawk's Applied Music program. “For the Nov. 20 performance we are programming some of Linc’s most requested, favorite music and our guest vocalist will be the dynamic Sophia Perlman."

The Darcy Hepner Jazz Orchestra is one of Canada’s premiere jazz ensembles and is an assembly of a veritable who’s who among Canadian jazz musicians. For the Lincoln Alexander Memorial Concert the Darcy Hepner Jazz Orchestra will be performing music from the libraries of Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer and Henry Mancini as well as a tribute to the Great American Songbook, including selections from the band’s recent CD, Blues in Another Minute.
