2025 Mohawk College Spring Convocation Graduate Award Recipients
Each year, special awards are presented to graduates who have accomplished the highest levels in their academics or go above and beyond in contributing to student life at the college and in their community.
During the Spring 2025 Convocation Week, which took place from June 16 – 20, 12 graduates were recognized with a W.K. Warrender Award, a Govenor’s General Award, Outstanding Achievement Awards and Graduate Medals.
Judge W.K. Warrender Award
The Mohawk College 2025 Judge W.K Warrender Award went to Manufacturing Engineering Technician – Automation program graduate Lindsay Newson.
The W.K Warrender Award recognizes the distinguished contribution of recipients to student life throughout their time at the college.
As a student Lindsay was a leader, supporting her classmates, encouraging their growth, and fostering a collaborative learning environment, all while maintaining a 95.3 GPA. Remarkably achieving perfect final grades in three core courses: Trade Calculations 1, Mechanical Maintenance, and Hydraulics Level 1.
In her second year, she extended her commitment to student success by becoming a peer tutor. She volunteered at Mohawk College events including Jill of All Trades and Open Houses. She also took initiative organizing study sessions and creating study guides to help her fellow students succeed.
Outstanding Achievement Awards
The Mohawk College Outstanding Achievement Awards are presented to graduating students with a minimum 75% GPA in addition to proven community involvement and extracurricular achievements as nominated by their faculty.
The Spring 2025 Outstanding Achievement Awards were presented to:
- Cassandra Gagnon - Early Childhood Education
- Jacob Maduka - Photography – Still and Motion
- Jonah Scrymgeour - General Arts and Science
- Pal Manojkumar Patel - Computer Systems Technology - Software Development
Governor General's Award
The Mohawk College 2025 Governor General's Award went to Computer Systems Technician - Software Support program graduate Dasol Cha.
The Governor General’s Academic Medal, established in 1873, is one of the most prestigious awards that can be received by a student in a Canadian educational institution for exceptional academic achievement.
The Collegiate Bronze Medal is awarded annually at the Spring Convocation to the student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduation from a diploma-level full-time post-secondary program that must be at least two years in duration. The recipient is selected from the graduating classes spanning an academic year.
Dasol was also the recipient of the Mohawk College Graduate Medal, which is awarded annually at the Spring Convocation to one full-time student per faculty who achieves the highest-grade point average, with no failures.
Graduate Medals
The Mohawk College Graduate Medals are awarded to one student per faculty who achieve academic distinction while maintaining honours standing, with no failures.
The medals are presented annually at the Spring Convocation to a full-time graduating student with the highest-grade point average from each faculty, as determined by the Registrar. The criteria for this award stipulates that it is issued on academic marks only.
