Mohawk College ranked as top Advertising college in Canada, 28th in the world
Mohawk College students won a Silver Cube in New York City on May 17, as well as six merit awards, in the Young Ones student competition at The One Show, the world's most prestigious award show in advertising, design, and digital marketing.
The silver-earning submission, Phanteurian, by second-year students Zacharie Cloutier, Cree Powell, Jordan Lehman, was an idea for Meta to use VR to help amputees deal with phantom pain - a condition that affects millions. Other 2024 innovative video submissions included a Beats product innovation that reduces heart attack rates for young people, a geofencing idea that unlocks Duolingo Language lessons for Indigenous languages and special pajamas that help detect diabetes at a young age in a way that's actually fun for kids.
These results, with seven finalists in the competition, represent the college's highest total to date. Mohawk College had 22 shortlisted entries - including 34 students - and students from all three years of the program placed. The college's previous high was 12 shortlisted entries, last year.
As a result of this recognition, Mohawk College is ranked as the 28th top Advertising program in the world in 2024. (https://www.oneclub.org/awards/rankings/students/-archive/agency/2024/all/all/all/all)
