Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair looking for volunteer judges

Want to see the future of science and technology?

The Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair (BASEF) needs volunteer judges for the 53rd annual Fair. Judging day for BASEF 2013 will be on Thursday, March 21, at Hillfield Strathallan College, Fennell Avenue in Hamilton (next door to Mohawk College), from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hillfield Strathallan is hosting this year's fair due to ongoing construction work at Mohawk's Fennell Campus.

Registration for judges is now open and available online:

Over the years, BASEF has provided great opportunities for local youth to participate in an exceptional experience. The Fair is affiliated with both national and international science fair organizations, and sends many of its winning students on to either the Canada-Wide Science Fair, or the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

BASEF 2013 will again give grade 7 to 12 students the chance to showcase their hard work on science, engineering and math related projects. The Fair is open to students from the City of Hamilton, the Region of Halton, Haldimand County, Norfolk County, Brant County, and Six Nations, including students of independent and private schools as well as home-schooled students.

BASEF depends on the support of judges who volunteer their time, effort and expertise to learning about what students have discovered and want to share. More than 150 judges are needed for this year's Fair. Find out more about BASEF at www.basef.ca.

You can learn more about the science fair at our website ( www.basef.ca ). There is information of particular interest to Judges in the Judges Section, accessible via the side menu on the website. There are also many other resources on our site - our Annual Report, our Fair Results from 2012 and earlier, and our "Science Success" student and teacher workbooks, among others.
