Tentative Agreement Reached with Ontario Colleges Support Staff

Agreement to be ratified by membership

TORONTO - August 14, 2014: A tentative agreement has been reached between Ontario’s colleges and the union representing college support staff across the province. The details of the agreement will not be released until a member ratification vote is scheduled and held in the coming weeks.

“These were tough negotiations but the outcome meets the reasonable expectations of both sides,” said Florry Foster, chair of the bargaining team that represents more than 8,000 college support staff workers represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union. “Our members look forward to the start of the school year in this environment.”

“We are very pleased to have reached this agreement well ahead of the contract expiry of August 31st , said Gerry Barker, Chair of the Colleges’ Bargaining Team. “Reaching the agreement now provides certainty for our support staff, for our colleges and most importantly for the hundreds of thousands of students looking forward to starting their studies this September.”
