NWC Honouring Indigenous Women in Hamilton Award Recipient

Congratulations to Mohawk's Manager of Indigenous Education Leah Hogan. Leah is this year's recipient of a Native Women's Centre (NWC) Honouring Indigenous Women in Hamilton Award in the Education category. The second annual awards celebrate the significant contributions of women in the community who are leaders and demonstrate their gifts by helping others.

Leah's family is from Oneida Nation of the Thames. She has been embodying the seven Grandfather Teachings throughout her 13-year career at Mohawk College. She has helped Indigenous adult learners of all ages navigate the college system and has been a strong and fierce advocate for removing barriers to education for Indigenous people. Leah is deeply appreciated by the students she serves and the people she works with. She is well known for her kindness, clarity and commitment to students.

Leah is also a dedicated learner. She holds a 3-year Business Administration Diploma, an Honours BA in Commerce, a BA in Education and a Masters in Education specializing in Indigenous education.
