Congratulations to the first graduating class of Mohawk's Avionics program

It hasn't been easy, but the first graduating class of Mohawk College's Aviation Technician - Avionics Maintenance program will soon be ready for the next stage of an exciting career in Canada's aerospace industry.

The students were part of the group that returned to complete their studies in early July following the closure of college's campuses in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The final project for the students was a "glass" cockpit conversion of two Cessna aircraft. The conversion involved fitting the aircraft with advanced avionics equipment. Mohawk's Avionics program is one of a few programs that can provide this level of training to students.

Currently split between campuses, all of the college's aviation programs, including Avionics, Maintenance and Structures will be relocating to a new, purpose-built 80,000 square foot hangar and learning hub at the Hamilton International Airport this Fall. The space was built in partnership with Britich Columbia-based KF Aerospace and is part of a large-scale expansion of KF's operations in Hamilton.

Mohawk's Aviation training facility at the Hamilton airport is expected to welcome a record number of Aviation students this fall.
