Game Design students awarded for creating Bedlam

08

01 - CopyFirst-year students of Mohawk College’s Game Design program have put the new program on the map in its first year of operation, earning second-place honours for Best Overall Game at Level Up Student Games Showcase in Toronto on April 19.

The student team, represented at the competition by Trevor Beckham, Ari Urrahman, Hailey Petit, Jonah Bron, and Seth Rodger-Patterson, created their entry, Bedlam Bros. during Design Week, a five-day game jam as part of the Game Design program. The game involves two players, who must cooperate to deliver a twin mattress through a series of contorted buildings. Players must synchronize their movements with each other to effectively weave their way to their destination.

The Mohawk College team competed against 150 other teams from across 14 public colleges in Ontario, most of which had several months to work on their submissions. Founded and run by digital media faculty from post-secondary institutions across the province, Level Up is a yearly tradition for students to compete for best-in-show awards and put their work on display for the world to see.

Congratulations to the Bedlam Brothers team and the faculty and staff who supported them in the competition.
