2011_Mohawk College_Roberta Tremain_Cheryl Jensen2The Hamilton Spectator has this story about Roberta Tremain (picture far right), the first woman to graduate from the Hamilton Institute of Technology (HIT), the precursor to Mohawk College, in 1961. Roberta chose to mark the 50th anniversary of her graduation from HIT by donating $50,000 to establish entrance scholarships for women enrolled in technology programs at Mohawk. During her visit to the College on Tuesday, Roberta met with Cheryl Jensen, Mohawk's Vice President Academic, and the first female Dean of the College's Faculty of Engineering Technology. Cheryl says the scholarships will be used to encourage young women to enter technology fields.
