In the news: Mohawk team focusing on safer power grid

The Hamilton Spectator has this story about the Government of Canada investing $2.2 million over five years in a new energy-related applied research project at Mohawk College. Mohawk looks to solve the engineering challenges of connecting renewable energy sources like solar panels and wind turbines with the existing power grid. The project will include building a model of Ontario's power grid that will test new ways of controlling the flow of electricity into and out of the system. Professor of Energy Engineering Technology Nafia Al-Mutawaly is leading a team of students and industry partners on the project.
