In the news: Partnership serves up unique summer experience for youth

NEW: Brantford Expositor story on the Government of Ontario's literacy funding for Brantford.

The Hamilton Spectator has this story about the Government of Ontario investing $3.6 million in Mohawk, the Hamilton Literacy Council, the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board, the Hamilton Regional Indian Centre and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind. The Hon. John Milloy, Minister of  Training, Colleges and Universities and Minister of Research and Innovation, says the new funding will allow 13,000 more people in Hamilton to train for high-skill jobs.

The Spectator story included an interview with Mohawk student Shan Oshana who is serving a co-op placement with the City of Hamilton as a roads inspector. Shan, who could barely read a few years ago, improved his literacy skills with help from a tutor at the Hamilton Literacy Council.
