Making Mohawk Proud

Mohawk College is proud to nominate Camilo Avendano for a 2018 Premier's Award. Camilo, who graduated in 2014 with a diploma in architectural technology, has applied his technical and entrepreneurial college education to his career and to co-founding an innovative startup, LeafBox Concepts. It upcycles cargo containers into rentable storefront and event space. This concept is believed to be the first off-grid rentable pop-up platform in the world. With a focus on sustainability, social and economic mission, Avendano strives to pair a physical platform with a digital platform by incorporating a mobile web app that enhances customer experience. Camilo graduated from Mohawk's Architectural Technology program in 2014.

A total of 118 nominees will be celebrated at the 2018 Premier’s Awards gala, which will take place on Monday, November 26, at the Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel.
