FINAL FINAL CCAA-logo-hamilton-final-dec 5The semi finalists have been determined at the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association Men's Basketball Championship at Mohawk College in Hamilton.

The top ranked team in the CCAA, the Holland Hurricanes from Charlottetown Prince Edward Island, will meet the fourth ranked Humber Hawks from Etobicoke Ontario and the championship hosts, the Mohawk Mountaineers, seeded third, will play number two Vancouver Island University Mariners of Victoria in the other semi.

In quarter final action Thursday (March 19), Holland College scored an 80-63 decision over the eighth seeded Medicine Hat Rattlers from Alberta. D.J. Wright had 19 points to lead the Island squad. Michael Farion had 16 for the Rattlers.

Humber beat number five Langara Falcons from BC 77-71, as Gibson Eduful scored 18 for the Hawks and Jitinder Lohcham notched 18 for the Falcons.

VIU topped number seven Lethbridge of Alberta 66-62. Justin King scored 26 points for the Mariners and Travis Butt notched 15 for the Kodiaks.

Mohawk, of Hamilton, just got by sixth seeded Champlain Saint-Lambert Cavaliers of Quebec 79-77 as Matt Fennell scored 28 points. J.J. Hamel-Carey delivered 21 points for Champlain.

Friday, the action picks up at 1:00 pm as Medicine Hat plays Langara, while at 3:00 pm Lethbridge meets Champlain. Both of those games feature teams still in the hunt for a bronze medal. At 6:00 pm it's Holland College versus Humber followed at 8:30 pm by Mohawk and Vancouver Island University. The winners of the two semi finals will meet in the gold medal game Saturday night.
