HAMILTON -- Instead of a pop quiz, RBC senior executives ended a guest lecture for Mohawk Financial Services students this afternoon by announcing a $350,000 donation to the college.

RBC senior executives met with students in the Mohawk Learning Exchange to talk about the financial services industry and what employers look for in college graduates.

“Mohawk College is in the business of transforming students into highly skilled, future ready graduates,” said President Rob MacIsaac. “Partnerships power those transformations and we’re grateful for the tremendous support from RBC.”

“RBC is extremely proud to support such a fantastic organization that does so much for the education of youth within this community,” said Wayne Bossert, Executive Vice President of Sales, Canadian Banking, RBC. “We are thrilled that our contributions will help fund the School of Business and we look forward to a continued, long lasting partnership with such a strong community partner.”

Mohawk’s two-year Financial Services diploma program, which prepares students for careers in the financial services, banking and insurance fields, has a 100 per cent graduate employment rate. To apply their skills, Financial Services students run an annual blood donor drive in support of Canadian Blood Services.

Mohawk College delivers a quality education to more than 16,000 full-time and apprenticeship students, 42,000 continuing education registrations and 700 international students from campuses in Hamilton and Brantford.  Mohawk students have an 85 per cent graduate employment rate and 93 per cent of employers report being satisfied or very satisfied with Mohawk graduates.
