Media release: Explore the frontiers of health, technology & learning at Mohawk's 2013 Apps for Health and Education conference
The conference, presented by Mohawk and the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation, will bring health care and industry professionals together with students and educators to explore the frontiers of health, technology and education.
This year’s conference will focus on the latest advances in:
- eHealth – healthcare practices supported by electronic processes
- mHealth – the use of mobile devices for health purposes
- mLearning – teaching and learning through mobile devices and platforms
Teams of college and university students will also compete to create technology applications to solve real world healthcare challenges submitted by Mohawk partners.
“Apps for Health and Education brings health and technology professionals, students and educators together for a pretty intense day of sharing ideas and information about emerging trends and possibilities,” says Mohawk College Health Sciences faculty member and conference organizer Christy Taberner. “It’s also a great opportunity for our college partners to recruit some very hard-to-find talent to work at the leading edges of health, technology and learning.”
Mohawk College delivers a quality education to more than 16,000 full-time and apprenticeship students and is recognized as a leader in health and technology. The Mohawk eHealth Development and Innovation Centre (MEDIC) works with Canadian businesses to develop and commercialize healthcare IT products and supports organizations that are carrying out interconnected healthcare projects.
With a vision to improve health for all using information and communication technology, the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation works with multi-disciplinary and international leaders from the social sciences, technology and health fields to transform health systems around the world
