ITS and Mohawk College sign partnership agreement with support from EU Erasmus + Programme

The Jobs Academy (Fondazione ITS per le nuove tecnologie per il Made in Italy) and Mohawk College (Hamilton, Ontario) announce a new collaborative partnership which supports academic mobility programs for students and faculty at each institution.

Fondazione ITS per le nuove tecnologie per il Made in Italy – JobsAcademy (Bergamo, Italy) and Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology (Ontario, Canada), are pleased to announce a new student and faculty mobility partnership starting in the 2018-19 academic year.

Fondazione ITS is a large technical college in Italy and the only non-university approved participant in the Erasmus+ mobility project. Mohawk College, located in Hamilton, Ontario educates and trains more than 31,700 students, including more than 4,200 international students from more than 75 countries. Mohawk is one of a limited number of approved Canadian partners with the Erasmus + Programme. This unique opportunity will allow for a more global perspective and provide work experiences for Mohawk students.

“We are extremely pleased of this great achievement that stems from our ongoing commitment to advance Canada’s international education strategy and our yearly EduCanada Fairs in Italy ” commented the Ambassador to Italy Alexandra Bugailiskis. “Canada is a world leader in Technical and Vocational Education and Canada’s Colleges and Institutions greatly contribute to building tomorrow’s workforce. Combining Canada’s know-how with Italy’s renowned talents and its innovative Industry 4.0 agenda, will expose students from Mohawk College and The Job Academy to the best of the two worlds.”

Following a two-year collaboration, which includes student exchanges and curriculum development, the two institutions signed a partnership agreement after obtaining an Erasmus grant to support student and teacher exchanges.

Co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ KA107 Programme, this new International Credit Mobility project will support five Jobs Academy students at Mohawk for one semester and provide an opportunity for five Mohawk students to enhance their skills within an Italian work setting and learn about the local culture for eight weeks. The programme will also support participation for faculty from both institutions in a teaching and learning exchange program in Bergamo and Hamilton.

This exchange program supports each institution’s objectives to promote student and faculty mobility and develop global competencies.
