Media Release: Students to Give Back with Hamilton's First A Better Community Day

HAMILTON, ON Students are invited to make a difference during Hamilton’s first A Better Community Day April 3.

High school, college and university students, together with their families and community members, will spend Sunday afternoon volunteering with Food4Kids, the Escarpment Project and City School by Mohawk at the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre in North Hamilton.

A Better Community Day is organized by the Mohawk Students’ Association in partnership with the McMaster Student Union and Redeemer Senate. To register or for more information, go to www.mohawkstudents.ca/ABCD

With a mission to enhance all students’ college experiences through leadership, support and advocacy, the Mohawk Students’ Association represents all full-time and part-time students at Mohawk College’s three campuses in Hamilton.

AGENDA:

Noon: Free lunch and t-shirt provided in the Mohawk Students’ Association Plaza at the Fennell campus

1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Volunteers travel to five “taking action” locations

  • Grocery shopping for Food4Kids (gift cards provided)
  • Preparing cookbooks for Food4Kids
  • Red Hill Valley clean-up for The Escarpment Project
  • James Street stairs clean-up for The Escarpment Project
  • Dundas Neighbourhood canvas for City School by Mohawk, in partnership with the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre (ERRC)
