Mohawk College Advertising students lead nationally with 16 shortlisted entries in ADCC Student Awards
Twenty Mohawk College Advertising students are making their mark on the national stage, setting a new program record in one of Canada's most prestigious student advertising competitions.
The college leads in the Advertising category of the 2026 Advertising and Design Club of Canada's (ADCC) Student Awards, accounting for more than half of the 28 shortlisted entries nationwide.
Mohawk's 16 shortlisted entries surpass the program's previous record of 13 and place the college ahead of other leading institutions, including OCAD University with six entries and Humber Polytechnic with three.
For more than two decades, Mohawk College Advertising students have submitted their creative work to the annual competition, which recognizes emerging talent and excellence in advertising and design across Canada.
This year's achievement reflects not only the creativity and talent of Mohawk College students, but also their dedication, collaboration and passion for their craft.
Creativity and collaboration
Twenty students, representing all three years of the Advertising program, contributed to the shortlisted work.
Several projects brought together students from different years of the program, including first- and second-year students collaborating to develop creative campaigns.
One shortlisted campaign even crossed international borders, with Mohawk College students providing the conceptual strategy and copywriting while a student from FACAMP, a school in Brazil, provided the art direction.
These collaborations gave students opportunities to share ideas, learn from one another and develop the teamwork skills essential to succeed in the industry.
Going beyond the classroom
"This is an incredible achievement for our students and our program. What makes it even more meaningful is knowing how much time and energy these students invested in their work,” said Professor Jef Petrossi.
Throughout May and June, students put aside their summer to develop their work and portfolio out of passion, not for course credit. Their dedication really paid off.
“Their creativity, commitment and willingness to collaborate have placed Mohawk among the very best in the country," said Professor Raf Ferreira.
