REMEMBERING A REMARKABLE FAMILY: St. Joseph's Villa Foundation Chair Peter Tice, lawyer Gerard Murphy, financial advisors Glenn Wood and Kathy Wood and Mohawk College President Rob MacIsaac took part in a dedication ceremony at St. Joseph's Villa to honour the legacy gifts of Bill, Agnes and Eleanor Barr to the Villa and Mohawk. The plaque will be displayed outside the Villa's Conservatory Lounge.

Mohawk College and St. Joseph's Villa held a dedication ceremony last week to recognize extraordinary legacy gifts from an extraordinary family. Bill, Agnes and Eleanor Barr were residents at St. Joseph's Villa. Impressed by the care they received, the Barr family left their estate to St. Joseph's Villa and Mohawk College. The Barr family gift to Mohawk was matched by the Ontario government to create nearly a million dollars worth of bursaries. Eight Eleanor Barr bursaries will be presented annually to students of unlimited potential yet limited means in Mohawk's Practical Nursing and Personal Support Worker Programs. The Barr family gift in support of student bursaries is the largest in Mohawk's history.

The care and comfort provided by Mohawk alumni led the Barr family to make the single largest donation to student bursaries in the College's history.
