Mohawk College approved for 1,662 additional funded student spaces through Ontario’s Priority Growth Fund

Mohawk College has been approved for 1,662 additional funded full-time equivalent student spaces by 2027–28 as part of the Ontario government’s Priority Growth Fund, representing approximately $21.7 million in gross new funding for the college that will be phased in over the next few years.

The investment follows a provincial call for proposals for 40,000 new postsecondary seats connected to high-demand careers across Ontario.

Mohawk’s proposal was developed around demonstrated workforce demand, with the college working closely with employers and community partners to identify areas where skilled talent is needed most and where Mohawk has the expertise and partnerships to make a meaningful difference.

"This is a strong vote of confidence in Mohawk College’s strategy and our vision for the future," said Mohawk College President Paul Armstrong. "This investment gives us the opportunity to continue aligning and expanding programs in areas of greatest workforce need while building on Mohawk’s established strengths. I want to thank Minister Nolan Quinn and the Ontario government for their confidence in Mohawk College and their continued investment in postsecondary education."

The approved growth will support programs across several priority areas including health studies, skilled trades and technology, aviation and education. All of these programs reflect the priorities of the province’s Priority Growth Fund and the areas approved for additional enrolment growth. Implementation of the additional spaces will take place over the next two years.
