Mohawk College hosts Toque Tuesday in the Learning Exchange

Mohawk joins a Canada-wide celebration of Toque Tuesday with a community event on Feb. 8 from 11 a.m. to noon in the Learning Exchange.  Since November, students from Mohawk's Insurance program, along with more than 40 schools, businesses and community groups, have been selling $10 toques in support Wesley Youth Housing and Wesley Centre in Hamilton, and other agencies across Canada working on long-term solutions addressing homelessness nation wide. Raising the Roof is Canada’s only national charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for agencies tackling homelessness like Wesley Urban Ministries. Hamiltonians are on track to buy 2,000 toques said Wesley Urban Ministries’ Executive Director Daljit Garry, with 80 per cent of net toque sales going to Wesley Youth Housing and Wesley Centre in support of long-term independent living for youth and adults. Hamilton Mayor Bob Bratina will present awards to the lead toque campaign sellers and announce the highest toque seller. Toques can be ordered online, by calling 905-528-5629 ext. 248 or by email.
