Mohawk College students win 11 medals at provincial technological skills competition

Mohawk College students have won three gold, three silver and five bronze medals at Skills Ontario's 2015 Ontario Technological Skills Competition. More than 2,000 high school and college students compete in 67 skilled trades and technologies contests. The competition is the largest in Canada.

  • David Klassen, bronze medal, Aircraft Maintenance

  • Aneil Lochan, bronze medal, Auto Collision Repair

  • Tim McCoppen, bronze medal, Cabinetmaking

  • Lydia Tupper, gold medal, Cabinetmaking

  • Mark Whiteford, bronze medal, Industrial Mechanic Millwright

  • Matthew Wicks, silver medal, Graphic Design


Lydia won the award for highest marks for a female in her trade group and became the first woman to win gold in the cabinetmaking category.

Tyler won the Colleges Ontario award for the highest grade earned by a college student at the skills competition.

Lydia and Tyler will go up against Canada's best in the national skills competition May 25-30 in Saskatoon.
