Mohawk hosting national print competition, Tom Middlebro taking on Canada's best

Mohawk student Tom Middlebro from the Colleges' Graphic Design Production -- Digital program (with classmate Andelko Sljivicis as Tom's back-up) is set to square off with the country's best students in the Canadian Printing Industries Sector Council and Skills Canada national skills competition at Mohawk Brantford May 21 -22. The competition gives students a shot at representing Canada overseas at the World Skills London 2011.


Mohawk Brantford is hosting the offset print component with the rest of the competition taking place at the RIM Park in Waterloo. For the offset print competition, students will hmix special Pantone inks, plan and cut paper stock on Mohawk large cutter as well as print a four colour and two colour job on the College's QM-46 Heidelberg offset presses. The competition will be judged over the two days by a panel of experts from across Canada.


Supporting the competition are industry and college partners Heidelberg Canada, Lintec Label & Print Solutions, TMP Image Printing, Spicers, Flint Group, L&L Shuttle & Charter Service.
