To recognize responsible students who live off-campus, Mohawk has launched a new Good Neighbour Award in partnership with Ward 8 Councillor Terry Whitehead, Hamilton Police Service, the Mohawk Students' Association (MSA) and the Student Life Department.

Residents and landlords living in neighbourhoods around Mohawk's Fennell Campus can nominate students who take care of their homes and look out for their neighbours.

To submit a nomination, send an email to Jay Robb with your name, contact information and a brief overview of why the students are deserving of recognition. Nominations will be reviewed by Mohawk's Neighbourhood Committee and the winning students will receive grocery vouchers and movie tickets.

A survey conducted last fall of first-year students found that 63 per cent live at home, 14 per cent rent, eight per cent live in residence, six per cent own their own home and five per cent pay room and board.
