FINAL FINAL CCAA-logo-hamilton-final-dec 5It will be the host Mohawk Mountaineers versus the Lethbridge Alberta Kodiaks in the bronze medal match at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Basketball Championship in Hamilton Ontario.

The Mountaineers just barely held on to defeat The Langara Falcons of Vancouver BC, 86-85 Saturday (March 21)

Mohawk Player of the Game, Matt Fennell, scored 35 points and added 10 rebounds to lead the Mountaineers to their narrow

Langara led 21-19 after the first quarter and 50-44 at the half, but the host team turned things around in the third quarter to lead 70-67, but the Falcons regained the lead 75-70 in the final period. It was at that point where Mohawk's Lamar Barr reeled of three 3-pointers and a two point bucket in a matter of seconds to put his side up 81-75. However Langara was not about to quit and pecked away at the Mohawk lead and made it 86-85 for Mohawk with 31.8 seconds left in regulation time. The Falcons had a chance to take the lead with time running out. They missed their shot, but the Mountaineers knocked the ball out of bounds with just 2.4 seconds left. Langara got the ball to their Player of the Game, Jitinder Lohcham, who felt he was fouled on the way up for a shot, but the officials didn't see it that way and the game unfortunately ended on a sour note with the teams getting into a ruckus under the Mohawk basket. Lohcham ended up with 28 points in what turned out to be a very intense game.

Mohawk and Lethbridge meet for the bronze medal at 6:00 p.m.
