Mohawk students and faculty bringing Jazz in the Hubs concerts to elementary schools

Jazz in the Hubs logo Jazz in the Hubs returns for a second season, with the Mohawk College Student Big Band, Mohawk Music faculty and members of the Hamilton Music Collective performing interactive concerts to elementary school children at four lower city schools from April 29 to May 4. The concerts are followed by Meet the Instrument sessions where children get the opportunity to try out the instruments. Jazz in the Hubs is supported by Mohawk through a MaryLynn West-Moynes Grant for Learning, Leadership and Citizenship. Astrid Hepner, chair of the Hamilton Music Collective, says Jazz in the Hubs gives children the opportunity to experience live music, introduces them to musical instruments and gives them the opportunity to play instruments.
