Mohawk student wins at Indigenous Music Awards

Jacob Hill and the Wabanaki Confederacy take Best Pow Wow - Traditional Album

Mohawk College student, Jacob Hill, and the Wabanaki Confederacy received the Best Pow Wow – Traditional Album award for their album Journey of the Drum at the 2019 Indigenous Music Awards. Based in the Maritimes, The Wabanaki Confederacy is a traditional Indigenous music group whose name honours the Confederacy that ties their communities together.

The Indigenous Music Awards are part of the Manito Ahbee Festival, which celebrates Indigenous arts, culture, and music. The festival was held in Winnipeg, Manitoba, from May 15-19, 2019.
