Mohawk this Week (Nov. 8 - Nov. 14)

Wednesday, Nov. 10: Spaghetti Lunch in the Cafeteria (all campuses)from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Only $5, all proceeds go to the United Way. Price includes pasta with choice of two sauces, dinner roll and salad.


Mohawk Alumni Association 2010 Etiquette Dinner, 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. at Carmen’s Banquet Centre, Hamilton. $15 for students/alumni, $20 for guests. For information call 905-575-2258. Seating is limited, register at alumni.mohawkcollege.ca.

Saturday, Nov. 13: Santa Claus Parade in downtown Hamilton starting at 2 p.m. Come and watch the parade and cheer on the Mohawk float.  The parade route starts at Queen and Main Streets, heads east on Main to John Street, north on John to King Street, and then west on King to Bay Street. The Mohawk Float is being sponsored by WC Bowen Transport, and is designed by Mohawk College advertising students. The float will also feature a live band from Mohawk’s Applied Music Program.

Monday, Nov. 15 – Friday, Nov. 19: Celebrate International Education Week at Mohawk. International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Events at Mohawk (Download IEWSchedule2010 (2)will include an International Food Cooking Demo, International Chocolate Challenge, Music from Around the World, and Discover China, to name a few.


Thursday, Nov. 18 – Sunday, Nov. 21: Hamilton Music Awards at the Fennell Campus. Visit the Hamilton Music Awards for tickets and event details.


Thursday, Nov. 18: Mohawk welcomes John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities to celebrate completion of construction for the new Cummings Library and Mohawk's centre for entrepreneurship, learning and innovation at the Fennell Campus. The centre was made possible by support from the Ontario government and the late Harold Cummings, a long-time West Mountain resident and Mohawk neighbour. Friday, Nov. 19 – Saturday, Nov. 20: 22nd Annual Craft Show in the Fennell Campus Gymnasium. Friday 2 p.m. – 8 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Admission $2 (under 12 free). For more details visit: craftsale.mohawkcollege.ca


Saturday, Nov. 27: The annual Mohawk College Children's Holiday Party takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the cafeteria and C-Wing atrium at the Fennell Campus. The party, for children and grandchildren of Mohawk staff and retirees, will feature games and crafts by students in Mohawk's Recreation and Leisure Services program, as well as entertainment, lunch and a guest appearance by Santa.


There is a nominal fee of $10 per child or $25 for three or more children. Please pay in cash at the party or send a cheque, made payable to Mohawk College, to Mohawk's Special Events Department (room C025, Fennell Campus). Click to register online.


Tuesday, Nov. 30: Student and Donor Celebration from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Liuna Station. The celebration brings students who received scholarships and bursaries in 2009-2010 together with donors who invested in their education. To register, go to www.mohawkcollege.ca/awardsrsvp.


Saturday, Dec. 4: The Mohawk Students' Association, Mohawk Alumni Association and Mohawk College Association of Continuing Education Students host a "Photos with Santa" event for the children of students and alumni.
