Mohawk to host 2009 ArcelorMittal Dofasco Hamilton Music Awards

Pathways to Education is coming to North Hamilton in September 2009 and looking for tutors and mentors. The award-winning program helps high school students stay in school, graduate to success and go on to college and university.

Pathways to Education offers four supports to students and their families:

  • Academic (tutoring in five core subjects four nights a week)

  • Social (group mentoring for grades 9 and 10 and specialty / career mentoring for grades 11 and 12)

  • Financial (immediate financial support such as free bus tickets tied to attendance and a bursary for postsecondary education up to $4,000 per student in the program)

  • Advocacy (Student-Parent Support Workers help connect teens, parents, school administrators, teachers and community agencies).

The Pathways to Education program in Hamilton will be led by the North Hamilton Community Health Centre. For more on how Mohawk students, faculty and staff can get involved with Pathways as tutors and mentors, contact Kathy Allan Fleet at the North Hamilton Community Health Centre at 905.523.6611 ext. 308.
