Mohawk welcomes a new Dean, McKeil School of Business and School of Media & Entertainment

Mohawk College is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Grimes as Dean, McKeil School of Business and School of Media & Entertainment.

“Michelle’s practical experience in the media and entertainment industry, combined with her leadership experience within the college sector will advance Mohawk’s reputation as a leader in training the next generation of business and media professionals. I am excited to welcome Michelle to the team,” said Paul Armstrong, Vice President, Academic.

With over 20 years of experience, Michelle brings extensive leadership expertise and practical knowledge from both the college and private sectors to Mohawk. Michelle began her professional career in postsecondary education as a Program Coordinator in Journalism and Professor in Television and New Media Production at Loyalist College. More recently, she has served as Chair in the School of Business at Conestoga College and in the School of Media at Seneca College.

Prior to becoming an educator, Michelle worked as a reporter for The Toronto Star and The Canadian Press, and served as a programming and production manager for several broadcasters, including BBC Canada, Life Network, National Geographic, Outdoor Life Network and CTV specialty networks. She holds a Master of Education in Leadership & Learning from the University of Prince Edward Island, and Honours Bachelor of Applied Arts degrees in both Journalism and Radio and Television Arts from Ryerson University. She is currently completing a PhD in Leadership and Policy Analysis at Niagara University.

Michelle started in her new role on January 20.
