Mohawk welcomes Wayne Poirier, Vice-President of Student Services

It is my distinct pleasure to announce the appointment of Wayne Poirier as our new Vice-President, Student Services. Wayne will start with Mohawk College on January 4, 2011.

Wayne is currently the Director of Student Services and Campus Life at George Brown College, and has many years of experience in the student services area in both college and university environments. Wayne has recently transformed student services at George Brown College, introducing a one‐stop‐shop service model and an online Orientation tool that was awarded the Impact Award by Colleges Ontario.

Wayne holds a Masters of Arts in Education and is currently pursuing his Doctorate program at OISE/University of Toronto. He is a Hamiltonian and is proud to have Mohawk alumni in his family.

I am excited to welcome Wayne to Mohawk, and look forward to his participation on the Mohawk Executive Group and his leadership as we move forward with our new Student Services vision. I know you will support him as he makes his transition to this new role.

My sincere appreciation goes to Bob Carrington, who so ably stepped in to fill a very critical gap in a very challenging period. He has been a tremendous help, and will leave the division in good shape for Wayne’ arrival.
