The first weekend of Mohawk Mountaineers varsity action to start 2024-25 brought mixed results.

Mohawk men’s soccer got off to a great start, capturing four out of six available points. The season for the Mountaineers started with a 2-1 win over the Lambton Lions, and then a 2-2 draw versus the St. Clair Saints.

The Mountaineers women’s soccer team also defeated the Lions, winning by a score of 3-0. The backend of the weekend saw the women’s squad fall to the Saints, 4-1.

On the diamond, Mohawk women’s softball team started their season with four consecutive losses. The Mountaineers performance improved as the weekend progressed, but ultimately, they are still searching for their first victory.

Mountaineers Athletes of the Week

Lauren Snider – Women’s Soccer

Snider, playing her fourth season with Mountaineers women's soccer, netted her first and second career goals this past weekend in Mohawk’s 3-1 win over the Lions. The multi-sport athlete continues to provide energy on the pitch along with her veteran leadership.

Emidio Refosco – Men’s Soccer

While Refosco didn't net a point over the course of two matches during opening weekend, he was a major part of the Mountaineers success. The team secured four points with a win and a draw, and Refosco contributed by playing heavy minutes in the back-to-back contests while being asked to play multiple positions. His gritty effort was recognized off the score sheet.
