IMG_8753Mohawk College's Sustainability Office opened its expanded Community Garden at the Fennell Campus today. The new space boasts 44 raised plots, 3 accessible plots and 1 large at grade farm bed. Mohawk's Community Garden provides a place for students, staff and members of the Hamilton community to learn the skills and gain the knowledge required to grow common fruits and vegetables for personal consumption, in support of local and sustainable food systems. Special thanks to Amy Angelo, Operations Manager at Hamilton Victory Gardens, who was on-site today providing advice and gardening tips to all the new and returning Mohawk Gardeners and the Mohawk Students’ Association for catering the events lunch with a locally sourced menu. The Mohawk College Community Garden is a direct action of the Environmental Management Plan 2.0 and was funded through the Sustainable Initiative Fund.
