Open letter from Mohawk College President Rob MacIsaac to faculty and staff

All Staff and Faculty:

Later today, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) will announce that I have accepted a new position as President and CEO of HHS effective February 1, 2014. With a cluster of eight health care facilities, this is an exciting opportunity for me to lead another large and essential community agency in Hamilton.

The decision to leave Mohawk College was not an easy one. I have had a wonderful time here and it has been such a pleasure working with so many talented and dedicated staff, faculty, and administrators.

I am very happy with the progress we have made over the past five years. Dramatically increased student satisfaction, the transformation of the Fennell campus, and the important steps taken into the future of learning in our community are all milestones on that journey. All of this was principally due to your extraordinary efforts in support of me.

At its meeting on November 13th, the Board of Governors will consider a process to select a new President. I trust you will provide the same loyalty and support for Mohawk’s next president that you have provided me.

In closing, I want to assure you that I will always consider myself a champion for Mohawk College and the College system generally. The work of the College is so important you have my enduring respect and gratitude for doing it so well.

Rob
