Open letter to the community from Mohawk College President Ron McKerlie

To the Mohawk College Community:

Mohawk College stands in solidarity with Black Canadians who experience racism as a part of daily life. We add our collective voice to the call for change.

Mohawk values equity, diversity, and inclusivity. As a college, we are committed to providing an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment for all, while at the same time, instilling these values in our students and employees, and our community. We all have an active role to play in countering discrimination; educating ourselves, calling out racism, and helping to shape a more equitable future.

In these already uncertain times, the events over the past week across North America have created even greater stress. To the members of our college community who are experiencing increased anxiety and distress, it is important for you to know that your college supports you. If you need help, please reach out.

If you’d like to get involved or be a part of the conversation, please email us at equityandinclusion@mohawkcollege.ca.

We all have responsibility to stand against racism. Together, we must build a community that will not tolerate discrimination in any form.

Regards,

Ron J. McKerlie
