Sandi Stride joins Mohawk College

A sustainability champion and strong advocate for climate change 

Mohawk College is pleased to announce that Sandi Stride has been appointed to the position of Executive Director of the Centre for Climate Change Management at Mohawk College.

Sandi will lead the newly created centre as it fulfills its mandate to support regional action on climate change and provide opportunities for students to learn, live and lead in the development of applied climate change mitigation strategies and initiatives.

Sandi brings a wealth of experience to the role. As founder and president of Sustainable Hamilton Burlington (SHB), she advanced community sustainability in the region by inspiring businesses to adopt sustainable business practices. Since founding SHB in 2011, Sandi and her team built a network of more than 1,300 businesses and developed a Sustainable Business Initiative membership base of more than 28 leading Hamilton and Burlington business and public-sector organizations.

Through SHB, Sandi engaged in cross-sectoral community working groups including municipal and provincial government, academia, business and non-government organizations on sustainable business initiatives including greenhouse gas target setting and reduction, and reporting frameworks that reflect local and provincial goals and priorities.

Sandi started her new position in November
