Tentative agreement reached, support staff returning Tuesday and no pickets Monday

The College Employer Council representing Ontario’s 24 colleges announced late Sunday night that a tentative agreement had been reached with Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) representing college support staff to end the province-wide strike. Employees will be returning to work on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

“We are very pleased that we reached a negotiated settlement. We look forward to welcoming all of our valued employees back to the colleges where we can again work together for the success of our students,” said Gerry Barker, Chair of the Colleges’ Bargaining Team.

A ratification vote conducted by the Ministry of Labour will be held in the near future, when terms of the agreement will be released.

OPSEU 241, which represents support staff at Mohawk, says there will be no pickets at the college on Monday.
