Congratulations to Mohawk's YWCA Women of Distinction nominees

Congratulations to Mohawk's YWCA Women of Distinction nominees: Anita O'Keeffe, Katie George and Rochelle Ivri. The three nominees will be attending the YWCA Women of Distinction Awards Gala this evening, Thursday, March 5 at the Hamilton Convention Centre. The annual awards recognize the achievements of women trailblazers in the community. 

Anita O'Keeffe is a Field Placement Specialist within the School of Community Services. Anita also works as a counsellor serving first responders living the effects of Post-traumatic Stress Injury. A former firefighter, Anita brings a unique perspective and deep understanding of the challenges faced by first responders.

 

 

Katie George has been a Liberal Studies Professor at the college for the past 13 years. In addition to teaching, she supports individuals with acquired brain injury through Hamilton Health Sciences, ABI Community Services program as an Advanced Rehabilitation Therapist. She is also strong advocate for inclusivity and awareness of sexualized violence on campus. 

 

 

 

Rochelle Ivri is a Professor with the McKeil of School of Business. In addition to teaching at the college, she also serves as one of 10 Canadian Citizenship Judges and co-founded a youth mentorship program called Ubora Mweusi.
