2014 OCAA Golf another gold team shot

The Mohawk College Community Citizenship Ceremony with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship and Citizenship and Immigration Canada will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. in the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre. All are welcome to attend and watch the new citizens being sworn in. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Gary Warner.

Dr. Gary Warner taught courses at McMaster University on Francophone Literature and on peace and international development. He held various administrative roles including Department Chair, Associate Dean, Co-Director of the Theme School on International Justice and Human Rights, Director of McMaster International and Director of the Arts & Science Program.

As well, he served as a Program Director for CUSO in Sierra Leone, West Africa, and later as Chair of CUSO's international Board of Directors. He is a former Vice-Chair of the Ontario Council on University Affairs.

He has been active in the Hamilton community for over 40 years on issues related to international development, poverty, human rights, immigration and social justice, most recently as past Chair of the Board of the Hamilton Community Foundation. Dr. Warner is a recipient of several awards, including the Order of Canada (2005), Hamilton Citizen of the Year (2006) and Hamilton Gallery of Distinction (2006).
