Mohawk College team wins provincial Student of the Year Award
College entry earns top honour from Experiential and Work-Integrated Learning Ontario for third consecutive year
Mohawk College Advertising and Marketing Communications Management students Kailee Baldwin, Fiona Stevenson, Shelby Guitard, and Estevan Ferrari are the recipients of the 2023 Experiential and Work-Integrated Learning Ontario (EWO) Student of the Year in the College Experiential Learning category. This is the third consecutive year that Mohawk College students have received provincial recognition for their outstanding work.
The group of third-year students completed a project through The Agency, an experiential learning hub operating within the McKeil School of Business. They were paired with a client, The Fix, a café housed within the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton.
The team provided a comprehensive marketing campaign, reimagined new branding, created a loyalty program, and redesigned the interior of the coffee shop. Their accomplishments stretched beyond the initial scope of the project and exceeded the expectations of The Fix, as well as the supervising professors Robin Grossi, Rafael Ferreira, and Janice Warren.
The team members have recently graduated and are embarking on a new chapter of life but they credit Mohawk College and the Advertising and Marketing Communications Management program in preparing them to pursue their career goals.
The 2023 EWO Award will be presented to Kailee, Fiona, Shelby and Estevan at Mohawk College this month as part of the National Co-op & WIL Month, and the group will be recognized on EWO’s website and social media posts. Their supervisors, professors and peers are proud of the students’ individual and collective achievement.
