We remain hopeful that the City of Hamilton and the transit union will negotiate a new contract and buses will continue to run for our students, faculty and staff.

In the event of a transit strike, Mohawk will put a contingency plan in place for carpooling and drop-offs.

Fennell Campus

  • Free carpool parking in the P11 Lot for students, faculty and staff who normally take the bus to Mohawk (at least two people per car). (See attached map.).

  • Drop-off zones for students, faculty and staff who are getting rides to campus:

    • C-Wing entrance on south side of the campus (exit off West 5th at Governors Boulevard)

    • i-Wing roundabout on the west side of the campus (exit off Fennell Avenue at traffic lights)

    • DBARC (David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre) roundabout on the west side of the campus (exit off Fennell Campus at traffic lights)

  • Please note that there are no left turns at the West 5th and Fennell Avenue intersection due to road construction. Please give yourself extra time to get to the campus.

Stoney Creek Campus

  • A free carpool lot (at least two people per car) will be set up on the north-east side of the Campus behind the Motive Power Centre (See attached map).

  • Drop-off zone for students, faculty and staff who are getting ride to campus:

    • Main Entrance off Barton Street (outside the Atrium)

Institute for Applied Health Sciences

  • McMaster University will offer free parking in Lot M (off Cootes Drive) upon presentation of a current HSR transit pass.

  • Drop-off zones will be located in Lot D in front of the Ivor Wynne Centre and in front of the Institute for Applied Health Sciences.

In the event of a transit strike, all exams will continue as scheduled and Mohawk will not run a shuttle service within the city. Students, faculty and staff who rely on transit are encouraged to make plans with classmates, coworkers and family. The Sustainability Office, in partnership with Smart Commute, also offers a free online carpool and ride matching service at www.carpoolzone.ca.
